Our Training and Standards

At Freedom to Change, our specialists are highly trained professionals certified by Alexander Technique International (ATI). Our certification process ensures that each teacher possesses the expertise and sensitivity necessary to guide you effectively.

Certification Process

The ATI Membership has established rigorous criteria to evaluate the competencies of candidates seeking an ATI Teaching Certificate. This certification is open to all Alexander Technique teachers, regardless of their experience level. Through sessions with ATI Sponsors, candidates explore their abilities and deepen their understanding of the technique.

ATI Criteria for Evaluating Teacher Competencies

I. Conduct

• Demonstrating patience, compassion, honesty, and respect in interactions.

II. Knowledge

• Embodying an understanding of Alexander Technique principles.
• Demonstrating knowledge of Alexander's ideas and relevant literature.
• Understanding anatomy and physiology related to human movement.
• Adhering to the ATI Code of Ethics and recognizing when to refer pupils to other professionals.

III. Teaching Skills

• Clearly communicating and demonstrating Alexander Technique concepts.
• Using hands sensitively and appropriately during instruction.
• Observing and articulating teaching choices.
